iReNuKa to replace Cazzidy permanently

September 9, 2009

It is with sad news that we today say good bye to one of our players, Anette “cazzidy” Skarderud. After playing professionally for many years, she has decided to put less time in her gaming career.

Already during the ESL Major Series IV playoffs in Germany where Pink Zinic took the overall victory and proved themselves to be one of the world’s best female Counter-Strike teams, with Irene ‘iReNuKa’ Sanchez a stand in player came into the team as Cazzidy was not able to attend the event. Now, due to personal reasons Cazzidy decided after very well consideration to not play Counter-Strike anymore on a competitive level which results in parting ways with Pink Zinic.

Instead of her, Spanish player iReNuKa from bad Girls clan will become a permanent member of the Pink Zinic team. She signed her players contract today and starts practicing with IpSa, zAAz, nisse and inzane shortly.

We are highly convinced about the strength and skill of Irene. She will be able to bring fresh wind and energy to the team and improve our gameplay. Further she will bring a lot of experience that she collected after being more then ten years active in the scene. She will be in action with Zinic for the first time in early October at the Cybersports female Counter-Strike tournament in Poland.

The whole team would also say a big thank you to Cazzidy and all the good time we had with her. She has always been an excellent tactical leader and person which makes us sad to let her go at this point.

iReNuKa to replace Cazzidy at Gamescom- interview

August 18, 2009

IrenukaAs we announced a couple of days ago in our Twitter feed, team captain ZINIC|Cazzidy won’t be able to attend the ESL Major Series play offs in Germany with Pink Zinic. Of course we are anything but happy about this, but we spent a lot of time during the previous days in order to find a proper replacement for her which is able to travel with us to Gamescom from Thursday until Sunday.

After testing a couple of different players from different countries we all agreed on that Irene ‘iReNuKa’ Sanchez is the best solutions. Please give her a warm welcome! We are confident to show our best game with her, as we are strongly believe in her skill which she showed during this ESL Major Series with her home team Bad Girls. Unfortunately the Spanish team is not able to attend the event and got replaced by Alternate which gives us the opportunity to acquire iReNuKa now.

This means Pink Zinic will show up with the following lineup at Gamescom:

Sofie ‘nisse’ Adolfsson
Zainab ‘zAAz’ Turkie
Sophie ‘inzane’ Regner
Mayra ‘IpSa’ Perez
Irene ‘iReNuKa’ Sanchez

Jonas ‘The1Crow’ Gebhardt (team manager)

Here is a short interview with iReNuKa so that you can get to know her a bit better.

What were your thoughts when you heard to play for Zinic at the Major Series playoffs?
- To be honest, my first impression was that maybe it could be a joke, I mean, I know some of the girls as we see each other in all female competitions when I play for badgirls, but when IpSa asked me if I would be available to be their stand-in I was surprised at first glance! I’ve always been excited about playing female lans and I was so disappointed because we (badgirls) couldn’t make it in time, so when Zinic asked me to go with them it was like a double happiness, first of all because it was possible again for me to go to Cologne and second because I get the chance to do it with such a great team.
What are your expectations?
I really expect to have a good time there, to show a good game and prove everyone that the fact of having to play with a stand-in, doesn’t make the team weaker.

What is your goal at the event?
- Of course my main goal is always to win!

How did the practice go so far?
- Well, the practice went well considering I don’t speak any Swedish! I am trying to learn all the position names but it’s difficult with that strange accent for me :$ I really like their gamestyle, it’s the one I’ve always wanted to have in the teams I have been before.

What is your role in Zinic for now?
- Headshot headshot?! Nah, I am covering Cazzidy’s place and I think I cannot “replace” her totally perfect because she is such an experienced player and she’s been in this team since the beginning, so I think my role is just to keep the team on a “good enough” level to win this competition as they would do with their complete roster.

Where do you see the strength of the team?
- My view before playing with them was almost the same as now. I’ve always see zinic as an aggresive and strong team with players who like to grasp the nettle, and that is because all of them have really good skills to be able to play that way. I totally see them good enough to win any female competition.

How big are the differences between badgirls and Zinic?
Well, badGirls haven’t been too active this year, so  right now there are a lot of differences as Zinic is totally in shape. But talking in general, I’ve seen
in Zinic diversity and the high quality of players, which I think is the key of succes and that was what made us (badgirls) qualify for this finals aswell, even though we haven’t pracc the whole year. Also I would like to mention how different is to play with people from another country. They are quite different or their temperament is much different if you compare it to the Spanish girls (i miss the screeches!)!!

I would like to thank Zinic for this opportunity and say that I take this totally serious! gl hf everyone

ahl: Girls can become as good as boys

June 24, 2009

During Dreamhack Summer 2009 we had the chance to sneak around with the camera and do a couple of quick interviews. You saw some of them during the previous days already but more to come now. This time ZINIC|Cazzidy got a hold of former SK-Gaming team leader and player Michael “ahl” Korduner who joined back in earlier 2003 SK. Even though ahl stopped playing quite some time ago already he feels somehow still connected to a few Counter-Strike players. Find out in the video interview what he has to say and what are his thoughts about girls playing Counter-Strike.
