A New Era Begins

February 23, 2010

eslfem

As you well know, the ladies here at Pink Zinic regained their title of Major Series Champions, they will now also keep that title after ESL announced the end of the Female Competitions in their Major Series. However, female gamers are urged to not despair as the end of Female Gaming in the Major Series has opened a new door, which contains the new ESL Female Section. This section will contain all female gaming action, from Counter-Strike to CS:Source, the tournament structures will remain the same and of course will include some cash prizes!

So to kick of the section, the Electronic Sports League staff have put together a European League, which will feature the best teams battling it for the title. While other teams have to go through various qualification stages, our girls have earned themselves a place in the league, bypassing the qualification stages. Joining them will be the remaining teams who finished in top four of the last Major Series, they are;  German teams we are and Frankfurt 69ers, and finally the French team of Burning!.

When asked what she thinks about the new ESL Female Section, Captain Mayra ‘IpSa’ Perez had the following to say:

We are looking forward to it!!!

Stay tuned to myZINIC.com for updates on upcoming tournaments and of course news on the new ESL Female Section!

They managed to beat the German team we are in the finals 2-0, ending their unbeaten run. The first map the teams were to play on was de_dust2, a map which was chosen by the Germans. Although they put up a tough fight, it ended up going in Zinics favour. EMS Final Tonight

February 16, 2010

Tonight, after many reschedules, the girls will undergo their final challenge in the ESL Major Series. They will be defending their title against the German team of we are, who throughout the tournament have not lost a map. Similarly, the Pink Zinic ladies have also not dropped a map, so the game will definitely decide the better team and also, champions.

Like before, the game will be played in a best of three format, the three maps to be played will be de_dust2 (we are choice), de_nuke (Pink Zinic choice) and the deciding map will be de_train.

Pre-Match Statement from Pink Zinic:

“Woah, we made it pretty far and put a lot of effort so far in this Major Series season. Coming so far, you get of course even more hungry for the victory then you are already and we really went to take the victory in this match - it shall be exciting!”

IpSa Interview

February 9, 2010

ipsa http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2579/4163790672_3f354a0b97.jpgThe Pink Zinic girls have been on a role lately as they managed to make it through to the ESL Major Series Finals. Their bid to retain the title will conclude next week when their paths will cross with the German team of we are.

So with the recent success, I decided to catch up with team leader Mayra ‘IpSa’ Perez and ask her a few questions. The interview explores what Mayra thinks about the upcoming ESWC as well as the recent EMS form.

Tell us about yourself, what is your role amongst the team?
Well, my name is Mayra Perez. Im 22 years old. Im a competitive, stuborn and honest person. My role among this team is to be ingame leader. I call the tactics and try to do my best while doin it! I am a really pushy person so I always try to push this team to be its best. I also try to organize small stuff among us that needs to be fixed.

Before we delve into your Major Series success, what are your thoughts about the upcoming ESWC tournament in France this year?
Im pretty happy about ESWC France this year! Really looking forward to it. There will probably be A LOT of female teams attending this tournament to try to get the money AND the title. So me and the team are really looking forward to this event! Its so awesome that the money is really high this year. That will attract female-teams all over the world.

With the tournament having a prestigious reputation, there will be many teams there battling it out for the title, are you excited about competing against new opponents such as SK-Gaming?
Last time when I was at ESWC Masters and ESWC Finals 2008, we did play against SK-gaming. It was pretty even, all of the times. Or thats atleast how I try to remember it. This time we got a whole new different lineup. With basicly two different players. They make a really big differens in the team, specially mentally. We won over sk-gaming in 2008 Masters-final and back then we where pretty new and hungry but it didnt go all the way in the ESWC Finals. That was two years ago and we have changed and I think we are better and hungry again to meat opponents that we rearly play against.

You beat mousesports in the Quarter-Finals, which meant you got revenge after the Pan European Tournament in Poland a few months ago. What has changed since then enabling you to defeat them and why?
ipsa1There can be A LOT of different reasons why they won over us in Pan-european tournament but the biggest reason I think was that they changed two players. They got hungry and young blood in their team. Changes like that gives new motivation and they probably remember how we play. I have recently started to notice a lot of teams playing the way we do. And its pretty hard for us to prepare ourselves to “play against ourselves”. You are used to certain teams playing in a certain way, but when they break their habbit and play like us, its pretty hard to anti-stratigize that. Usually because we are not ready for it when it happens. The reason we won over them recently is; they had changed one player so that could have affected their over all performance and we knew how they played. They where pretty predictable.

Throughout the Major Series tournament, you have gone unbeaten, which game was your favourite and why?
We actually got beaten one time in the group stage. But I guess we cant always win ALL games. We can also have a bad day and play like shit. If you are the enemy at that time, I can only say; nice luck! My favorite game during this season must be the game versus mouzesports. We wanted revenge and we got it real good.

Following on, what do you think the key to your success is?
I wouldnt call it “success”. But if I had a trick down my sleeve, I wouldnt say it. It would spoil all the fun and maybe copycats would come and steal the idea? And we wouldnt want that… ;)

On top of your winning streak, you also have not lost a map, how does this affect you going into the game on Tuesday?
Like I mentioned before, unfortunately we lost one game but we where having a bad day. It wont affect anything going into the final. We see this as a new day and we will try to prepare as good as we can. Play a lot individually and as a team.

Stay tuned to myZINIC.com for updates on the Major Series Final which is due to be played next week!

Pink Zinic progress to EMS Finals!

February 1, 2010

The Semi-Final of ESLs Major Series has concluded, with Pink Zinic once again coming out of top with a straight 2-0 victory. The game was against the French team Burning!, who last week also managed a straight 2-0 win. However, on a high, ours girls managed to carry the momentum from the mousesport revenge to this game.

After the two maps of train and tuscan were eliminated, the French side chose to start with inferno. A map which proved challenging for both teams as it went into overtime. With the pressure on, it was the mighty Pinc Zinic to come out on top and win the map 21-16. It was then time for the second map, nuke, which was chosen by Zinic. The map selection by captain ipSa proved invaluable as they took the map in a straight 16-01 victory.

EMS Semi-Final Tonight!

January 31, 2010

Tonight the girls here at Pink Zinic will be participating in the Semi-Final of the ESL Major Series. The game will be against the French team Burning!, who last week defeated Be-The-Best in a straight 2-0 victory. Like all the other Playoff games, the game will be in a best of three format, with inferno, nuke and dust2 being used.

Pre-Match Statement from Pink Zinic:

“Last week we played mouz in the playoffs and could knock them out on two maps which was a very important game for us and we were glad to be able to show our good game. In the next step to the EMS finals we have to manage to win over b! which actually eliminated BTB from the tournament last week. That shows that we have to play yet another time a good match in order to be able to win. We are convinced to be able to so!”

Pink Zinic advance to Semi-Finals!

January 29, 2010

The lovely ladies here at Pink Zinic last week defeated mousesports in the Quarter Finals of the Fifth ESL Major Series. The game, like all the playoff games, was in a best-of-three format, with Zinic coming out on top with a straight 2-0 victory.

The girls got straight down to business on the first map, with mousesports hardly putting up a fight they took the map of de_nuke 16-03. They gained the advantage and they capitalized on it early on by taking the half 13-2. The mousesports team seemed to have given up on the map by then, but managed to claw one round back.

Down but not out, the Russian team still had a chance to pull it back on their map choice of de_inferno. However, on a high, our girls once again started as CT and put 11 rounds on the board, they then won the remaining 5 rounds to win the game and match.

IpSa: We danced, we drank and we danced a little bit more

December 11, 2009

Hello!

It was a couple of weeks ago that we came back home from Jönköping, Dreamhack winter 09.

I had so much fun! Only thing that sucked was the BYOC-tournament. Our first enemy, skillz of borås, I knew exactly who this guys were and they are really good Swedish guys. They where sitting RIGHT behind us. I was so stressed out because I was like thinking “How the hell am I gonna call with them sitting behind me?”, hearing every word I say? And I am the type of IGL that calls pretty LOUD as well. Admins came and told them that they had to change seats. We did a great job but we knew that if we lose this match, we would technically be out of the tournament because only the first in the group would advance. We lost, but it was really good experience and they showed a lot of respect towards us during that game I can tell you. ;)

I am so happy about our newest member, she did so good during this event. No regrets baby!

We where in Jönköping from Thursday until Sunday. On Saturday morning me and zAAz went shopping and looking for a “Gina tricot-store” but we didn’t find one. After some hours looking at clothes the other two girls joined us and we all went shopping and we all bought new outfits for the night. It was so much fun!

We partied at Saturday night and we actually ended up pre-partying with some guys from Skillz of borås!

We danced, we drank and we danced a little bit more. Freaking awesome!

IpSa: Playing on hangover

November 16, 2009

Hi everybody!

As you already know we played our first game in the ESL. It was a pretty easy game. I really don’t remember why we lost that one round, but it was a lot of fun!

I was actually feeling really bad when we played that game. Me and my boyfriend were over at my neighbors with some friends drinking yesterday and we had a great time! We played some singing games and it was awesome! Except I had a little too much to drink and I had worse hang over ever. :( I was resting before we started playing and every time I said something it felt like I was going to puke! The worse part is I’m in-game-leader so I had to say something each round, after that I was almost quite. Have you ever had so strong hangover? Omg!

In one and a half week we will go to Dreamhack with our super new lineup and I am really looking forward to it. It’s gonna be fun!!! This time we will have time to hang out with Julie a lot which we didn’t do as much before since she played in another team and there has always been “rivalry” between the teams you know, so a lot of fun, weee!

Next weekend zAAz is planing to come over to my place to hang out, play and maybe drink! My boyfriend also has his birthday next Friday and I really don’t know what to buy him! Any suggestions ;D? However ,we will have a blast, like we always do; me and zAAz! Höhö.

Thanks for this time, Adios!
